Cheap FXO cards for asterisk

If you plan to connect your phone-line to your computer and use asterisk for call routing you mostly need an FXO card. By searching the internet you will first stumble upon Digium Wildcard X100P cards or similar OEM products, but before you buy it is better to look in your tinkering crate for an old pci-modem card. Look for a card with Intel MD 537 oder Motorola 62802 chipset. I bought an card on Ebay with Motorola chipset for a few bucks and lspci says this:

0000:00:0d.0 Communication controller: Motorola: Unknown device 5608

and when you load the wcfxo module for the zaptel driver it looks like this in the syslog:

Found a Wildcard FXO: Wildcard X100P

Done!
